Absence Due To Illness

Despite workers being frequently harangued for taking unnecessary sick leave, a recent survey has shown that British workers have the lowest levels of sick leave in Europe with 5.5 days per employee compared with a European average of 7.4. It is interesting to note, however, that in January 24% of the workforce went to work despite thinking they were too ill to do so, according to a YouGov poll commissioned by the TUC. This last statistic is well worth considering, especially in the current climate of worries about pandemics.
