OFSTED myths debunked
Lesson planning
• OFSTED do not require teachers to produce individual lesson plans
• OFSTED don't want to see previous lesson plans.
• OFSTED do not specify how planning should be set out, how long it should take or the amount of detail it should contain.
Planning should be helpful to individual teachers, not a burdening paper exercise.
Lesson grading
• OFSTED does not grade individual lessons. They grade the overall quality of teaching and learning throughout a school.
All teachers, no matter their level of experience, have strengths and areas that they can develop.
Marking and feedback
• OFSTED do not expect to see a particular frequency or quantity of work in books or folders.
• OFSTED do not expect to see any specific frequency, type or volume of marking and feedback.
• OSFTED does not require any written record of oral feedback.
Marking and feedback should be manageable and have the greatest impact on individual children.

Is what you do sustainable?
