The NEU is campaigning for inflation plus cost of living pay increases for teachers, support staff and other educators. Pay is a crucial part of our campaign to Value Education, Value Educators.

NEU campaign aims:

Protect educators against the impact of the cost-of-living crisis.
Fully funded and inflation-plus increases across all teacher pay scales to protect living standards against rising inflation and start to recover the real terms pay losses since 2010.
Fully funded pay increases for all educators to protect living standards and recover the real terms pay losses since 2010.
Pay progression for all eligible staff and removal of PRP.
All education employers implement fair national pay scales, fair pay levels and automatic pay progression.

NEU and joint union evidence to the STRB

The joint union statement to the STRB from NEU, ASCL, NAHT, NASUWT and Voice, accompanied by a joint press release from the unions, sets out the united view of teachers and school leaders on the urgent need to reverse the pay cuts.

The NEU evidence sets out details on the need to reject austerity policies, protect teachers against the cost -of-living crisis and recover the real terms pay losses since 2010. We also set out the NEU case for a fair national pay structure, the removal of PRP and urgent action to reduce workload. The NEU evidence included and was supported by the findings of the latest NEU Pay and Progression Survey and independent research undertaken for the NEU.

The NEU supplementary evidence to the STRB sets out our rejection of the Government's proposals for more real terms cuts to teacher pay.
