Should this man be running an Academy?
David Ross, co-founder of Carphone Warehouse and sponsor of Havelock Academy in Lincolnshire, has resigned from the mobile phone retailers’ board after failing to declare that he had used most of his shareholding as security for personal loans.
Ross joins a growing list of disgraced sponsors, most notably Lord Laidlaw, exposed for his sex and cocaine addiction; ARK, who are run by Hedge Fund managers; and Edutrust, which is being investigated for financial irregularities.
In these times of economic instability do we really want our schools tied to business interests? What if there had been an MFI academy, or a Woolies academy?
